Notre Dame de Chartres

When, as is sometimes the case, Paris becomes too much to bear with its intensity, rapid pace, and crowded streets, it is possible to escape by train to numerous, interesting destinations in close proximity.

Chartres is one of these destinations, taking approximately 1 hour each way for the journey. It is a beautiful, ancient city that was known to the Romans. It is of course, most famous for its majestic cathedral, the Cathédrale Notre Dame de Chartres, filled with stunning “Chartres” blue stained glass panels (many of which were created in the 11th and 12th centuries).
