Strasbourg, France

We locked up our Paris apartment on Friday and took the train to Strasbourg for the weekend. Originally, we had hoped to rent a car here and take a day trip to Freiburg, Germany, at the suggestion of a German engineer that D had met on a business trip in St. John’s, Newfoundland back in November. However, with France in a continued state of emergency, we thought perhaps we might try to visit Freiburg another time.

Strasbourg, located in eastern France near the German border, is the capital of the Alsace region of France, and is also the home of the European Parliament.

It rained and rained Friday when we arrived, which, being Canadian, made me long for snow instead. Our hotel is located in the centre of the historic part of the city, which makes it easy to reach every point of interest by foot.
