Roman light

Many of the buildings in Rome have an orange or pink hue to them, which looks so beautiful in the bright sunshine. I have never been able to capture this on film, owing of course to my lack of photography skills. The buildings are almost luminescent in the sunshine, and are especially beautiful in the late afternoon when the sun starts to set. Roman light thrills me.

Unfortunately, this year is really no different from previous trips to Rome in that I was unable to successfully photograph that ethereal, hazy glow of buildings in the Roman light. I did enjoy trying, though.

We are on the move again tomorrow. Just in time, too, as the intense sunshine is doing more than lighting up buildings — it’s frying my skin and sapping my energy! Clearly, I have spent far too much time in the arctic.
