As a tourist, I am always awed by the architecture and majesty of the cathedrals I have visited in Western Europe.

As a Catholic, I appreciate the hard, dangerous work of those who built these imposing structures, and am moved by the deep, abiding faith of those who have prayed there over the centuries, and those who continue to pray there now in this age of cynicism and modern technology.
